New MCAT

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's up to the school but I wouldn't be surprised if they screwed you over and made you take the new MCAT. I know some schools are already requiring new MCAT prerequisites (biochemistry, and psychology plus sociology for schools that don't already require it) starting next June.

Per AAMC's website-
Who will take the MCAT2015 exam?

If you plan to apply to medical school with a goal to start in the fall of 2016, this is the exam to consider.

I'm pretty sure taking either MCAT exam would be fine. When the GRE shift in August 2011, all graduate schools I know of allowed scored from both formats of the exam (denoted Old GRE & New GRE). If medical schools just stopped accepting MCAT scores from 2013 and 2014 simply because the 2015 MCAT is now in effect, I would think there would be quite an uproar, and you would see quite a few lawsuits cropping up.
Nobody is afraid of a lawsuit. Schools set standards in a way that serves their mission. It would make no sense to dramatically reduce the pool of excellent candidates by not considering those who took the "old" MCAT.

What If everyone that takes It the first time does bad on it?

Would they average the scores out to find out what a good score would be?

Knowing I'm a going to be a Freshman kind of puts me in a good position because I wont be taking It till 2016.

They would most likely average the scores. I can't imagine that everyone would do badly, as some of the sections - physical sciences and bio- are going to be pretty similar to what's on the MCAT now. Still, those sociology questions look horrible, IMO.
