I guess you could call me a "Nontraditional Student".

I went from my High School Graduation straight to Fort Benning, GA. for Army Infantry Training. It had always been my dream to go into the Military and I had planned to make a career of it. After only six years my wife had other ideas. I took a job as a Security Officer in a local ER to pay the bills and ensure my wife and I had Medical coverage, etc. It was there that I was turned on to Medicine. I took the Hospital's EMT course and went directly to work for a Private Ambulance Company. I then went to Medic School after only a little over a year of that. I went to a Hospital Based two-year program and loved being in a clinical setting. I've been a Paramedic for 10 years now and need something more. I thought becoming a Fire Fighter/Paramedic 7 years ago would help fill that void. Though it's still a long way till I earn my Bachelor’s, I need to keep my goal of going to Medical School in focus. I look forward to spending some time here asking questions and making new friends.

That's pretty cool, ChuckaZulu. Welcome. You'll find tons of support here in the non-trad forum. And you're well on the way to having your personal statement written already <grin>!

Thanks, I'll need it 😀

You'll definitely find support from people here throughout your quest. I have read a lot of posts from people in a similar situation to yours. You should go to the mentor thread, and you might find someone that came from paramedic to pre-med, and maybe even medicine.

Best of luck! 👍

WELCOME! 😀

You've found a great resource! Use it wisely (meaning, take everything you read here with a grain of salt).
