Hi, I just registered...
my case is i believe the rarest...
I immigrated to US about 4yrs ago..so actually I am not considered as int'l student.
I attended Univ. in korea for one yr and half...and came to US and retook all the courses that I took in korea....
and now I have about 140units completed including units in korea...
I was told we can actually evaluate units thru other than ECE. is it true??
how the evaluation work?
my country has similiar grading? can I still expect somewhat diff' GPA? why do dental school accept foreign units as the same way as domestic units???
welll...
can anyone expliain in detail how ECE or other evaluation works???
is there anyone who has units from both own country and here in the US?

By ADA requirement, you have to complete at least one year college and all the dental prerequisite courses in the US or Canada at an accredited college or university.

so I started all over here in US..I started from JC for two yrs..and transferred to 4yr univ...now I am senior...I am in the same situation as others except for those units that i took in korea.
i don't know exactly if ADA will accumulate all the units or seperate those foreign units...I will have so many repeats because of this situation here..

If you have all those required courses here in US, you can forget all about your other classes in Korea. It isn't count and you dont' have to list them on your application.

I didn't list any class that I took in Vietnam.

yeah..but the thing is my school UCSD found out that I had attended univ in korea and they had me to submit the transcript from korea..
so in the transcript of UCSD shows my past....
so..i guess i have to dont I?

hi, jinnie.
this is eric from fdc/pds. nice to see u here. i hope you have some of ur questions answered.

i m not sure whether or not your official transcript will show ur korea record. you have to ask at the registrar office. and it wouldnt hurt to contact a dental sch to ask or aadsas rather.

Some schools ask for a foreign credential evaluation from WES. www.wes.org

You also might want to post your question in the "International Dental" forum. Some of the individuals who post in that forum might be able to give you some good feed-back. Perhaps someone has had similar experiences. Good luck.

hey eric...good to see u here *^_____^*
actually my official transcrip showed units in korea...
I don't want to submit thoses units from korea ................so much work to do...
anyway...thanks, eric

I go to UCSD too and as far as I know the transcripts listed on studentlink are just for school use and for us to see what was counted. UCSD can't forward another school's transcripts, it is your responsibility to do that. I could be wrong but I think it is up to you whether you want to forward your Korean grades, but be careful cause if UCSD found out then the dental schools may find out too.
