Hi everyone! My name is Son Lee and I'm a pre-dental student at Syracuse University. Just thought I'd say hello and I'm very happy to have officially joined this forum (I wanted to be sure this is what I was going to do before I joined this). Can't wait to post more :)

Welcome! There's a ton of great information and people on this site, but there is also some information best classified as 'other'. Overall sdn is a great resource and I think you will find it helpful. Use the search function liberally. Good luck in your journey!

welcome buddy ... let us know if you have any questions!

A nice, friendly thread is refreshing. As stated above man, this place is a great resource. You'll be able to answer most, if not all, questions that you will have about dentistry.

Remember...
1) Applying early is best.
2) A "competitive" score on the DAT is anything 20+ (all sections)
3) A "competitive" GPA is 3.5+
4) Take lots of upper level bio classes.
5) Having shadowing experience with a dentist is extremely helpful.
6) Research experience is not required, but will also help.
7) You can specialize regardless where you go to dental school.
8) Kaplan practice tests are very similar to real DAT questions.
9) A low PAT/QR score on the DAT won't necessarily hurt your chances.
10) Caucasians/Asians/Indians aren't minorities in dental school.
11) African Americans/Hispanics/etc. are minorities.
12) Your personal statement is a very important part of your application.

Can't think of anymore but trust me at some point every predent asks these questions.
