Hi my name is Iman. I am a new member and I really need help. I took the DAT on November and here are my scores:
Biology 20
Orgo 20
Gen chem. 17
English. 18 It's my second language
Math 17
Pat. 19
Applied this year to only two schools in Michigan because I can't move to another state. All my family is here and I need their help with my kids during dental school.
Until now, I did not get any interviews so I think I will not be accepted because the class is full. University of Detroit mercy told me that my scores are not very high. So I want to take the DAT again. What material should I use to improve my scores?? Please help me!!!
What do U think of these scores and my GPA is 3.56!!
Please let me know how and what should I study to get these excellent scores that I see here!!!!!!

You need to widen your search, I had a little better scores than you (AA 19) applied to 15 schools, interviews at 3, accepted at 1.

My cousin felt the same way as far as not moving away from family, applied 5 years in a row and now cleans pools for a living and stopped trying. He doesn't hate his job, but it wasn't what he dreamed of which was dental school.

Raising your scores is a great plan, you will find lots of great advice on raising your scores here, but even then you really should widen your search.

Browse through the breakdown threads are read what materials they say to use.

Chads videos, DAT qvault, DAT destroyer, Topscore, Cliffs AP Bio, etc...


I must agree you are going to have to apply broadly. With your GPA and scores, I think the risk of waiting around and only applying to 2 schools is too big to take. If you retake the DAT and kill it, that might be a different story, though.

Use Crack the DAT, Destroyer 2013, Achiever, Cliffs and DAT qvault for Bio. If you master them, you will do fine. Good luck.

Can't he use his Bachelor degree for anything else?

He could I am sure, but he started the business while he was in the application cycle as something he could drop when he got accepted but it grew enough that when he didn't get accepted it was enough that he didn't. I don't know all the ins and outs of it, I just got the info from my uncle. His wife had medical problems and didn't want to move away from family so applied to the only AZ school (at the time) over and over.

Are the Michigan schools public or state? I am in the same situation and due to logistics I only applied to 2 schools that are within driving distance. I'm a non-trad and my stats are complicated because I had attended several schools before deciding for dental school.
I agree with above; check out DAT breakdowns so you can improve your score and also see what other things may be lacking in your application. Have you volunteered? Do you have some leadership experience? How is your personal statement? Have you had professionals look at your statement?
