Hello members

I am a BDS from India.I have just joined this group.Like all of you I am trying to get into a IDP Program.I have taken the NDBE Part I and scored 84%.I have a GPA of 3.55 and a TOEFL of 293 in the CBT.

Looking forward to interacting with all of you.

i guess u dint get my PM or havent checked it yet. so i guess i will ask u this in this thread. its kind of a technical problem and am not sure who to contact about it. 😕

i have signed up for a lot of the threads here on intl dental forum and i havent been receiving email notification of the fact that there are new posts on the threads i am subscribed to. i have checked my user options and the "yes" option for email notification is still checked. may i know how to solve this problem as i never get notification of PMs or new posts?? its a bit of a pain to keep checking all threads to see if there are new posts. 😀

also what does the "black dot" on those envelope icons mean??? 😕

toothmail, are you sure your SDN got your email right? Maybe is the email address the one that's wrong. Try confirming it or re registering it.

I also want to know what the black dot on the envelope means.

yeah meggs....the email id is right and i tried resubmitting my info to SDN .....but it doesnt help! 🙁

Try posting a messagge in the lounge or everyone forum, hopefully one of the technical experience mods will come to your help. You should find this mod named Imitiaz, he's usually the one who takes care of tech stuff around the lounge.

I did'nt get your PM. I got one sometime ago which was regarding an AOL problem, but that was answered, I forget who asked that Q though.

Black dot means that the person logged in has posted on that thread. New posts still show up the same way with a colored icon.

The other problem could be 'cause of the problems we have with the server, I am sure Lee is working on it.

This is what Lee had to say...

If someone has AOL, then they won't get any notifications. AOL puts these messages into their spam boxes.

Hotmail and Yahoo intermittently block these messages as spam. It's a problem that all board operators have -- it's a technical issue and hopefully it will get better in the future, but for now, people should use home or school email addys and avoid AOL, Yahoo and Hotmail.

thanks for following up on this henna. wow i guess this basically excludes all email ids i have!! i know that there is a message somewhere in the registration process that SDN does not accept yahoo.

u are so right ( or should i say lee is so right)!! and there is a solution:

all we need to do is go to the aol spam folder and mark those messages as "this is not spam" and it no longer sends it to your spam folder.

hope this helps whoever else this is happening to.

Toothmail, about this. Have you tried adding SDN adress to your "safe list" on Hotmail or Yahoo? Or, do you have mail filters in your account? Maybe a filter could be blocking SDN from getting there.
