Has anyone who accepted a Navy HPSP scholarship (class of '07) heard anything from the Navy since their commissioning? I was commissioned last month but haven't heard a thing and don't know if I should assume that everything is set for the fall. I've exhausted all of the online resources, but still find it odd that I haven't heard anything from Bethesda regarding OIS, tuition payment, etc.

Is this the norm?

O-1 here...I've already gotten revised financial aid statements reflecting the HPSP scholarship...but haven't heard from the Navy yet. I was commissioned 3 weeks ago...they're supossed to send you a copy of all the paperwork you signed...do you have that yet?

And I'd say yes, it's normal for any government agency to be slow...and if you didn't hear anything about OIS, then plan for next summer!

I just finished M1 and have been in the Navy HPSP program this past year. I did not receive ANYTHING following commissioning except for my pay stubs twice a month and my orders for OIS. I did have to give my financial aid office a copy of the letter that offered the scholarship and they adjusted my award to indicate the scholarship. That allowed them "bill" the Navy. My stipend didn't start when it should have so I called NMETC and they took care of it. Other issues that you have to take care of throughout the year are reimbursement for books, completion of annual statement of physical condition, yearly HIV test, and OIS. All instructions for reimbursement are in the handbook on the web. As far as the annual statement of phys. cond and HIV test, I had to have those done at my nearest Naval Reserve Center prior to submitting my AT application for OIS this summer. I called them directly and set that up. (your recruiter can help with that as well.) Don't count on receiving much from NMETC... you have to keep up on deadlines and requirements (most is in the handbook) and take care of it on your own. As long as you do your part, they will do theirs. It's a little confusing at first, but once you learn the system, its fine. If you have questions, call NMETC and ask (may take a little while.. sometimes a few weeks... to hear back so don't always expect a quick response.) Hope this helps.

Maybe someone can help me with this. What if you finished everything but is on a waitlist. Do you still get commissioned the same year or do you wait till the next year. Do you get scholarship your scholarship and attend OIS still?
