To be fair this isn't a rando community program, TGH is massive, does pretty much everything and has residency/fellowships in almost all other specialties.

But yes the increasing number of spots every year is concerning, especially with the greater amount of HCA & related for profit health system programs.

attendings cover 6:1 @ TGH? so they're all doing "supervision" rather than "direction". Sounds painful

Yes it would require a massive hospital to start with 12 residents/year. Many of the other new programs started with 3-5 residents in each class.

The mangar doc is a genius. Made probably 200 million controlling the Tampa area in multiple practices. Sold out to private equity partially. Than sold out to Team health. Than team health lost a bunch of contracts.

It's horrifying that he is allowed to have a position of leadership in a residency program when he so clearly was at the root of the issues the first time USF had a residency.

I don’t know how much control he has anymore. But the dude ruled with iron fist for so many years even after selling out. Talk about almost a monopoly power in that region

And the fcc wants to sue usap? That’s chump change to what monopoly mangar had over the Tampa region and surrounding areas. Keeping salaries artificially low compare to other markets.

Because they couldn’t care less about suppressing our salaries. They care about increased costs to insurers and hospitals, and to a lesser degree patients.
