I am studying for the DAT and I'm wondering about the calculator that is now available for the QR section. Is this calculator exactly like the one on windows you can access through accessories? Do you click the buttons with your mouse or keyboard or either? And also do you push a button to make it come up similar to the periodic table in the science sections? I'm just trying to study for it in the same environment I'll be experiencing while taking the DAT.

Thanks!

hey i called ada and i asked them what kinda calc it was and they said it was the same calc that you get from the accessories (but not the advanced one). i'm not sure about the whole numbers thing and whatnots but i do know when you click "exhibit" that windows calc comes out.

Use the search function. The calculator is just like the one from your accessories. You click with mouse. And you click exhibit.

is this Calculator available in all DAT sections like Science ( O.Chem, G.chem...)!?

Does this mean they're going to make the QR questions harder? When I took it, the calculations were all pretty easy to either do in your head or on paper (for all sections, including Chem) - maybe now they'll make it so you'll have to use the calculator - if so, it might have been better without it. Oh well.

Only QR. You can get all this info from the DAT guide you are supposed to read when you register for the DAT.

As far as difficulty, I'm not sure. I feel like most of the questions I had were pretty fair numbers, but I didn't take it before so I can't be sure. I think I would have been good without the calculator but it just helped speed things up so I'm not entirely sure.

I would imagine that the calculator would be cumbersome to use, much like the one found as part of the Windows OS is.

Despite having this resource available, it would seem like a great rule of thumb to still be sharp with your arithmetic with your pen/paper and head.

So from someone who has taken the test...Can you use the keyboard for the calc? Because that improves my speed by about 80%.....Rather than clicking it in.
