New to Dental

Hey guys,

I've just recently decided to go Dental. I recently took the MCAT and it was no fun, even after the long hours of studying this summer. Anyway, I've always had an interest in Dental so I'm applying. I just had a quick question, and sorry if this is stupid, I don't really know much about it.

When is the latest date you can take the DAT and still apply for Fall 2008 entrance? Also, what are is the average GPA of those who are admitted into Dental Schools. I'm sure there is somewhere online where all this information is, I just don't know how to search very well. Anyway, thanks so much for any of your help.

I wouldn't expect the DAT to be much more fun. But anyway, both the deadline for DAT and average GPA depend heavily on which schools you're interested in. I believe some are as early as early september while others are february. For GPAs of those matriculating, it varies (based on the latest data I've seen which was the 2005 entering class) anywhere from around 3.1 to 3.7. Pretty much all dental schools will want to see some dentist shadowing as well, so make sure you get some of that before you apply. To enter in Fall 2008, you need to apply in this cycle, and it's already getting rather late. It's still possible, but you'll need to really pursue this quickly. Granted, exceptional stats can probably make up for being late. Lots of information is available on here, although you'll probably want to head over to the pre-dental forum. Searching is easy: just go to the forum you want to search in, click "search this forum", and type in what you're looking for.
