Hi Everyone!
My name is Cassandra. I joined this site to help me figure out all of the confussion that is involved in going through school. I am currently attending community college (transfering in Fall) and my school is less than helpful. I decided about a semester ago that I would like to be PreMed. I am still figuring out how everything works. Any advice or websites that have more infor would be really appreciated. From what I understand, I need to complete my bachelor's degree and then apply for a medical school. I believe after medical school you apply for a residency? Sorry if my questions seem silly. Any help would be awsome!🙂

Not to be a jerk or anything, but the search function for this site will work wonders! And people will tell you off less often. 😉

Anyways, welcome to SDN!

(And yes, Bachelors, then Medical School, and then Residency)

You are correct about getting your undergraduate degree and then applying to medical school. To help clear your confusion, I would recommend taking a look at some books about the topic. There are plenty of great books that explain the process and will help clarify all requirements for you.

Or, if you just "stay tuned" and watch the site and what people post, you will learn a lot.

I was in a similar position, worked for me.

agreed. you have a long way to go but you are starting early which will help you a lot. try starting with "medschool confidential" it is definitely the most helpful premed book you will get your hands on.

also, just spend hours reading on SDN, you will find some good stuff.

similarly, the advisor (pre-med or pre-health) will be a very valuable resource

pm me if you need any specific questions answered and dont wanna make a thread from them- bc people will yell at you haha:laugh:

👍

That was one of the books I read too. It helped me figure out a lot. This was before I found SDN though, and SDN is an incredible resource.

Thanks for the replys. I've been looking around on the threads and have found tons of great info in the last hour. Very happy I found this site. I will make sure I research properly before I start my next thread.
