Hey everyone! I just found these boards late the other night while surfing around for med school information- looks like this is a really cool place.
A little about myself: I'm a senior at Boston University and I just decided last year that want to persue a career in medicine, so Im applying to post-bac programs probably like most of you here. I am one of those students that has pretty much zero experience in science (besides psych labs- Im double majoring Psychology and Philosophy), but I still feel like I cant see myself doing anything other than medicine. I have been working as an EMT here in Boston for about a year and a half now, and while my actual emergency experience is somewhat limited (the "good stuff" is usually taken up by other companies or Boston EMS), I truly do love working with patients - a love that I unfortunetly discovered just a little bit too late.
Still, I think post-bacc will be a good thing for me. My in-major GPAs are pretty okay (like 3.5), but my overall is quite low. Im a decently intelligent student, and I can always accomplish whatever I put my mind to... it just seems that I havn't really set my mind to all that much during my years as an undergrad. Basically, I'm not exactly the ideal med school applicant. I'm hoping still though that my desire to become a physician down the road and some strong efforts in this special program will make all this possible for me... I guess we'll see.
Anyways sorry for the long introduction.. This looks like a really cool place, I'm excited to finally find a board filled with so many people who are in the same place as me.
