Hi there,
I'm new to the SDN forum so I thought I'd introduce myself. 😉 I'm entering my junior year of undergrad moving towards my degree in social work. The other night on facebook I put up a status update about the special on Nat Geo about dogs. An old acquaintance (and vet student) commented "Why aren't you in vet school?!?!" It was the most obvious question in the world. It forced me to answer with another question, "Yeah, why aren't I?"
I have worked with animals, mainly dogs, since I was twelve years old. I have worked in kennels (including at vet hospitals where I mostly just took care of the boarding animals), shown purebred dogs (salukis) and I have been a dog groomer for the last 9 years. I have some equine experience as well; albeit limited. Animals are second nature to me. They are my greatest love, the axis on which I rotate. So here I am, at 27 years old undergoing a major change of direction.
I have decided to finish my degree in social work while I work on my pre-reqs. This way I will still have a degree in social work and something to fall back. A safety net so to speak.
Thank you all for reading this lengthy introduction, and I hope my newbie questions aren't toooo numerous! 😛
