Anyone have any thoughts about these programs?

- Allen White Institute
- IPE at NYU
- New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute
- Columbia program

I want to apply for psychodynamic psychotherapy, maybe for analysis in the future. Any recommendations, thoughts about better training...etc?

Mmmm... it's William Alanson White.
They are all highly reputable programs. There are some differences in theoretic perspectives (with Columbia and NYPSI being most classically psychoanalytic and WAW interpersonal) and atmosphere. You can get a feel for the latter by attending their talks and program open houses. Some "specialties" of the programs: Columbia allows access to learning TFP, it's also the most "brand name" program featuring big name lecturers (Kernberg, anyone?) and attracting graduates from Columbia and Cornell psychiatry residencies; NYPSI offers some interesting things like neuropsychoanalysis talks and workshops with Mark Solms (a very engaging speaker, if anything). I can't say anything about supervision or the other two programs.
