Hello everyone,

I am a college student living in NJ. I would like to apply in the next few years, but I plan on trying to get New York residency. I've been looking online for a pretty long time, but I haven't gotten a decisive answer... My question is do I need to have a job + live in NY or does living there for 1 yr establish this residency? I've seen answers on both sides...

Also, does anyone have experience with unlicensed dental assisting in NY?

Thanks babes 🙂

I've worked in 2 offices for 7 years that took me in without a formal license or education.

However, I do have to say that the type of work you'll be allowed to do will depend on the specific office. For example, 1 office allows me to take x-rays and pour up models (alginate, stone, etc) while the other allows me to do that plus scanning for digital impressions/making temporary crowns.

tl;dr Your involvement will vary depending on the office and the style of the Dentist.
