NZ ACE:
"With the introduction in 2011 of a one match process, all applicants will be ranked in one match. Part of the DHBs
ranking process will include ‘eligibility' and applicants should be ranked in the order below.
1. Graduates from New Zealand medical schools who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand/Australia.
2. Graduates from Australian medical schools who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand/Australia.
3. Applicants who have passed the NZRex clinical exam and are citizens or permanent residents of New
Zealand/Australia or hold an unconditional work permit to work in New Zealand.
4. Graduates from New Zealand medical schools who are not permanent residents of New Zealand/Australia.
5. Applicants who have passed the NZRex clinical exam and are not permanent residents of New Zealand/Australia.
6. Graduates from Australian medical schools who are not permanent residents of New Zealand/Australia."
I.e you would be ranked in the third group, behind anyone that's a graduate of an NZ/AUS medical school and a resident of one of those countries.
Statistics on the success rates of each category exist but I can't seem to find them. Consider contacting the NZMA. Your chances of getting a position in any large or popular hospitals would be very low.
Even if successful you wouldn't start work until November 2013.
You can apply for positions that become vacant (or are created) outside of this scheme by contacting the DHBs directly.
