Newbie Dillemma

Hey

I opened a thread because I think my case is kinda unique and was hoping for some guidance.

Basically I did my Bachelors in Accounting in Australia (university of sydney) and after working for a year had a change of heart and decided to pursue Pharmacy. I went back to school aiming to complete the prerequisites without attempting to gain a 2nd degree

Now I am in Maryland and I was advised that my 3 yr international degree can be used for application purposes by pharmacy schools.

Now that I have given a bit of my background I just had a few questions

1) I took the Pcat in Janurary and got a 64, my current gpa is 3.51. Should I retake the pcat in September as I plan to apply for Marylands Pharmacy program for fall 2012

2) I had to retake organic 1 because I got a C but now have a B, what is the general impact of this when applying

3) Finally are there any other schools besides Rutgers, Maryland and Notre Dame that i should consider. I am just starting my research so that I can apply for 2012 fall

First off, I would definitely suggest that you contact the schools you're interested in applying to and make sure that they will accept your international credits. I don't think it will be an issue, but make sure.

1. Personally, I would retake the PCAT.

2. The B in organic won't tank your chances.

3. Apply broadly. I can't suggest specific schools to you, but make sure you apply to at least a school or two that's a bit easier to get into than your first choice.

I forgot to mention my Ecs: I am Pharmtech at CVS, have a years experience volunteering at Howard County General pharmacy, I am a research assistant and was involved in student government.

Should I pursue for more extracurricular activities or focus on my grades/pcats?

Grades & PCAT, big time, mostly the PCAT though as your 3.51 is just fine.
