  1. Podiatry Student
Hello everyone
I'm pretty new here.. I ve been reading the post for quite some time now and it's really been helpful. I 'm applying for next fall just like the majority of you. I graduated in 2004 with a BS in biological sciences with a not so strong science GPA ( 2.6 😱 ) i was basically pursuing something that i had no really passion about. i have no excuses. i was a pre-dent student .. so i went off into the working world and learned that responsibility and dedication is key. I thought about life and what i wanted to do with life and thoroughly researched my options and all signs pointed towards podiatry.. but in orders to fullfill my dream.. i went back to school and a years worth till now of post bacc work to strentghen my overall application ive kept a post bacc gpa of a 4.0. I took the mcat this summer and got a 26O.. not a stellar score but im reconsidering on retaking in january to get a score somewhere in the 30s.. I applied late compared to the rest of you (10/31) mostly due after the MCAT in august i needed to take a bit of time off to rest a little and recollect my thoughts.. oh yes I ve been shadowing a podiatrist since sept. I applied to 7 out of 8 schools and ive heard back from them on interviews
My first interview will be at Samuel Merrit this upcoming Wed. 11/29
i value all of your opinions

thank you for your time

Honestly, I think that if you've already heard back from the 7 schools and they have arranged for interviews, chances are you'll get into at least one of them no problem...probably even the first one you interview at... but, as I've seen people on this forum say time and time again, make sure you think hard about which school you end up at. Don't just settle for the first one that accepts you.

Just the fact that you went back to school and really improved your GPA demonstrates that you have the capability of doing well if you try. I think schools will take that into consideration. Chances are, you will be asked about your 2.6 GPA at some of the interviews, however. You will have to find some way of explaining it (I'm not saying you should make anything up - but "having no excuse" probably isn't the best response).

Good luck.

Thank you for the feedback 🙂 I told myself that i wont jump on the first school that accepts me. I plan on keeping my options open..thank you once again 🙂

Sounds like you put a lot of thinking and effort in making this decision. I have no doubt that you will have success no matter where you end up. It is good to know that there is bright and dedicated perspective student such as yourself out there. I wish you the best of luck.
