What are you level I's gonna do different next semester as far as handling school?

I'm seriously gonna dedicate some time to see how i coulda handled things more expeditiously.

Are your classes harder or easier next semester?

I think we'll have more crud time spent in class, but our classes will be easier at sc.

I'll be all moved into my new house, so I will have more time to study. Building a house sucks. I will never do it again.

As for classes, if they exempt me from Medical Microbiology it will be easier. Biochem is over and that was the worst. Instead we'll get micro and an entire course on nucleotides. UF is big on gene therapy. Lots of research being done on campus. Other than that, I have another semester of the same classes.

What is the criteria for getting exempt from certain classes? Did you take that class already somewhere else?

it's gonna be hell next quarter. hope i can handle all the classes.

Don't worry ucdbiochem, I'll save you a seat in the library🙂 Did you see that CP grades are up?😱

thanks jason. no, the grades aren't up yet. i dunno why the **** it takes them so long to grade the exams. maybe they're also having winter break.
merry christmas man!

No, I was asking if you've seen your grade because they are up.

jason, how did you do? i'm gonna check them now
wish me luck!

I don't know if I next semester will be easier for me.
I am probably doing easier courses and I am better adjusted to my living situation, but I am doing an extra elective and an MBA course on top of a full course load.

All my classes will begin in the early morning at 8; I will have the afternoon off to do work and play.

This is how I envision every day of next year:
-go to the library after classes and be more consistent with my studying instead of doing those all-nighter cram sessions the day before the exams (I've been a pretty bad influence on all my study buddies who 'used' to go to bed early).
-stop working at 5 p.m and then go to the gym
-go to those student organization meetings
-actually sit down and read all those pharmacy journals I have piled up

Hope this won't be yet another new year's resolution that will go unfulfilled. Sadly, not one of my resolutions has been met with any success in all my years. Now that i am going to be a 'professional' I vow to change.

UF will exempt you from microbiology if you have a BS in Microbiology. Alternatively, if you took microbiology, immunology and virology at a 4 year institution they will exempt you. I'm trying to get exempted, but I took parasitology instead of virology. I'm hoping they make an exception.

Spring semester will definitely be tougher for my class. As far as studying... more doesn't hurt I guess. And it helps to stay awake in class. <- getting a huge bag of candy. But what I need to focus on is my health - physical and mental. Exercising, going out to play, and letting me spoil myself once in a while. 🙂 You can go crazy if all you do is eat sleep and study!! (depression and fatigue are not your friends)

8 AM phys followed by microbio every day...... wah..... ...but we'll have hot dental students there, I can't let them see me snore, drool and twitch (oh GOD not the twitch) in class!

Some things I've learned from Fall: do your pre-lab assignments early and not during lunch. and don't use the letter O intead of the number 0 when typing up Rx's... heh.

Well, how'd you guys do?

I remember that feeling of stress while taking that long walk to the wall where the grades were posted.

Me and three other students are gonna try and start a new student club. that's gonna take up some of my break. I think that's another good reason for me to DP my frat (they wanna have a talk w/me 12/27)

I think a key for me will be to attend my pharm practice course. I never went and got slammed for it (missed 4 out of 5 quizzes)

Try forming fun study groups for the ******ed classes that are just rote. for my pharm practice final me and three other peeps just sat in the sc cafe after closing w/bags of chips, a rice cooker, japanese pickles, kim chee, ice cream sandwiches, and our collective piles of power points. i guaranteed someone would get sick from the food, but no one really did. That kept us going for a while. It ain't the same as studying in a study room in the library. you can't be as loud or eat pot luck style.

We have a lot more class time next semester. That won't be good but the classes sound much easier:

Pharmaceutics (3)
Bio Systems (5)
OTC (4)
Lit Review/Stat (2)
Practice (4)

Here's my load for Spring:

Dosage Forms II
(2 credits)

Structure & Function of Nucleotides
(2 credits)

Physiological Basis of Disease II
(5 credits)

Microbiology & Immunology
(4 credits)

Basic Principles of Pharmacology
(1 credit)

Pharmacoptherapy I
(2 credits)

Clinical Practicum II
(1 credit)

I can't stand all of these long complicated names for courses in pharm school

Dosage Forms II
(2 credits)

Structure & Function of Nucleotides Should be "Nucleotides"
(2 credits)

Physiological Basis of Disease II Should be 'Disease Physiology
(5 credits)

Microbiology & Immunology OK
(4 credits)

Basic Principles of Pharmacology Should be 'Pharmacology
(1 credit)

Pharmacoptherapy I OK
(2 credits)

Clinical Practicum II I guess this one's okay, but just practicum would be better in my mind, i have a feeling you'll realize on the first day and forever that it's clinical

I'm not picking on your school dg, sc was just as lame last semester.

Except that we don't have Pharmacology until the 2nd year. This is just a preview course to get our feet wet. We had "Fundamentals of Medicinal Chemistry" which was basic Med Chem, but we don't get real Med Chem until next year. We still called it Med Chem, even though it wasn't really.

I agree that the course names are ridiculous. We call our courses, PBD, PSR, etc. But, those have no meaning to anyone else not at UF. That's why I put down the longer names.

My favorite course this semester had the most jacked up name: Health Care Delivery. It could've been pharm policy or pharmacy econ. 'Health Care delivery'?!?!? C'mon!!!

too much classes

dermatology
biology
chemistry
pharmacy systems

i think thats it
