Hello,

I recently graduated with a BS in Neuroscience. GPA - 2.997; 3 years of research with 2 fellowships; some volunteering/shadowing experience; will be receiving my certification as an EMT-B (soon); took the MCAT once and got a 21R.

I know that these credentials are super low - my last 2 semesters have been 3.778 and 3.489 respectively. I have applied to 10 SMP schools....and that was the initial plan, but in this last semester I received a C+ in a Neuro course.🙁

Any suggestions on what I should do next? Post bacc? Pick up another major and stay a 5th year as an undergrad? Any other ideas??

PLEASE HELP!! THANKS!:scared:

I'd heard there were SMPs that took a sub 3.0 GPA, but didn't know that a 21 MCAT was accepted anywhere. Your downward grade trend isn't goint to help matters, but maybe you'd already sent in transcripts so they won't know about that.

If you don't get an SMP acceptance, I'd suggest a one-year postbac ot fifth college year with a high GPA, to include science courses and retakes of any classes where you did poorly on the MCAT (eg, Physicis), retake the MCAT next January after a formal classroom prep course, and reapply for SMPs next year.
