Next terrorist target?

Where do you think they will hit next? It may sound paranoid, but I'm trying to avoid places that might get nuked. My husband has a theory that the next target will be in a red state, particularly Texas or Florida. I'm thinking that they are still going to go for high casualties and NYC, DC, Philly, and Boston are on the list. Any thoughts, or is this thread to morbid?

It's pretty morbid, but a hard subject to avoid thinking about. I've had the very same thoughts while in large airports - "gee, if I were a terrorist, I might target this place".

I heard that Atlanta's airport has been a topic of conversation in al qaeda. Of course that probably comes from the CIA so it most likely doesn't mean anything.

Ironically, I belive the original poster is female. Thus, your insult doesn't quite work. But a good try nonetheless.

People in rural areas in the middle of the country seem to be worried a bit about terrorist attacks. Somehow I doubt if someone wants to make a statement they are going to attack Saline, Michigan. Then, of course, someone will say, "But Saline is where Visteon is located, and they make auto electronics. So that could be a big target!" Ok, sure.

You got that right! People take chances all the time. I don't pay much attention to terrorist threats. I have mixed feelings when the government releases a relatively specific warning - all it does is scare people. I bet more people die every year from trying to change lightbulbs in ceiling fans than are killed by terrorists. Not to say the government shouldn't be vigilant about it, but that is the government's job.

Actually, my biggest worry about airports - (kind of tangential I know)

Am I going to be "patted down" (aka groped) inappropriately? I've been out of the news loop lately, but I heard a story on the radio where 2 women from Chechneya (sp?) smuggled explosives beneath the underwire of their bras. I guess now my underwire will be an "underwire of interest"

Too bad Hugh Jackman doesn't feel the same. 🙄

Don't you drop dead from rupture of an aneurysm, not from merely having an aneurysm?

I find myself less worried about airports and more worried about mass sporting events. If they want a large kill count, then they can attack a pro football game that has 100k people in attendence.

Yes. And that's somewhat related to a huge pet peeve of mine: there is no such thing as a "dissecting aortic aneurysm". It's either a dissection or an aneurysm. Aneurysm's hardly ever dissect so the term is incorrect.

i saw a girl get the "pat down" at the airport today (at the gate, which is rather far past the security area) it looked like a bad after school special.

Was there a new airport incident? I haven't been paying attention. I got patted (pet?) down in Charleston. I thought it was a Christmas special. Did not happen at the bigger (or smaller) airports previously!

Having to remove shoes AND my coat is annoying sometimes. It takes me forever to get redressed at the end of the security checkpoint. Then I have to repack my laptop. It's gotten to the point where I just wear sweatshirts and clogs when I fly. But I do appreciate the effort by the security folks.

Having flown in from LaGuardia today...I got to see some racial profiling at work. There were about 20 people in line ahead of me at the security checkpoint today. And I was 4 for 4 when predicting who would get the pat-down and cavity search.
