I dont think they will be calling till around the first week of October?

I just got the interview invite today, Friday 9/28!!! Can't wait to see everyone there.

I just got my interview invite today (9/29) for the October interview....who will I see there?

You are right, I meant thursday. But don't worry, it does not matter if you get the october or november interview at unc. There first adcom meeting is not until after the november interveiw. They discuss the candidates from sept, oct, nov together.

Yeah thats what they told us. The have the first three interviews and then they have a meeting on November 29th to discuss the applicants and then send out the invites. Dr. Guckes also said if you can get an interview at UNC you are damn well qualified to go to dental school.

they do them in batches i hear. I got interview phone invite 9/28...out of stater me be.

glad to hear you made it L.L....will see you there

one last thing, has anyone on here had UNC update anything on aadsas? mine is still blank from UNC 🙄

Nope, mine is still blank. Congrats on the interviews, guys! I loved UNC 🙂 Very laid-back interview day.

does anyone know how UNC lets applicants know their status on dec. 1st? i have heard that they call people, anyone else heard this?

also, has anyone else heard that they only fill the class half-way on dec. 1st?

thanks

I've heard that they call applicants as well, but in the interview presentation they said they mailed the letters on the 29th or something along those lines. Does that mean if we live close to UNC we'll get our letters early? Wouldn't that be nice. 😀 one less day of worry. Good luck to everybody this weekend- its awesome!

i am getting nervous about this interview!!! i have already had 4 interviews but there is A LOT riding on this interview, which is making me uneasy. i am trying to treat it as just another interview, but it is much more than that for us in-staters!!!

it is also stressing me out that i have heard they only fill the class half-way on dec. 1st, and i seriously doubt i would be in the first half to get accepted since i have heard that they tend to only accept minorities, out-of-staters, and the VERY high performers in the first group. :scared: :scared: :scared:

LL- Where did you go to undergrad- at UNC? Also, where did you hear that they only accept 1/2 of their class by the 1st? I am just wondering because I haven't heard of this stat in the past. I'm sure you'll be fine. You seem to be competent enough to land yourself an interview at UNC (and four other schools! 🙂 ) and they really try to make the whole process as relaxing as possible. Just be cool and you'll do great 😎

Also, if you get there early enough (like 6:45-7:00) there are usually parking spaces in that very small parking lot that is on the corner of manning and s. columbia. (next to the dental research center and brauer hall) You can park there and walk the 100 feet up s. columbia to the Health Science Library, grab a cup of coffee and just relax. That is what I did and I have to say that parking close to the school was worth missing 30 minutes extra of sleep. I hate walking in high heels!

Hi, I got an interview on 10/28 and 10/29 at USC School of Dentistry
925 W. 34th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90089. Anybody willing to share accomodation. I'll be in town by 10/24.

*** Please note female students only ***

you guys going to be there friday night?

Shhhhh! Don't give away the good parking spaces! There's only so many of them:meanie: Best of luck to all...we'll see you on Friday and Saturday.

FYI: on friday i'll be the guy in black pants a carolina blue shirt and glasses😎 .

It is true. They send out 40 acceptances the first round. The next 40 go out in February.

They used to send out letters only. They called the last two years because the committee met after Dec 1 and they didn't want to make people wait to long. It is not a policy to call so they may not call this year. I honestly don't know. Now that Kim left Tami is covering for her. If they don't have a replacement for her by December 1 it would make it more difficult for Terri to make all the calls.

We'll see. Good luck!

I have a friend who was from uncw (white, male) that was excepted in mid-december

do you know if it is true that the adcom tends to only send out letters to minorities, out-of-staters and the VERY high performers in the first round?

thanks🙂

No, it goes to 40-ish people. Most out-of-staters that will get accepted hear in the first group (because they are mostly all interviewed by then). Minorities are given not preference...EVERYONE that gets accepted to UNC at any time-with very few exceptions-is a VERY high performer.
Relax and enjoy the process. 🙂 It's less stressful than 1st year of dental school.

No. As a matter of fact, I know a guy who went to Duke and he was still accepted in December.

Just wondering for those that attended with me...how did you think it went?
And does anybody have any clarification of when we could hear if we are in or not? Nov29th? or Dec1st? or anytime between the two?

I interviewed there last year and felt so much more comfortable this year. I think I really pressed myself last year to be what the committee wanted to see, but this year I went in and was just myself and I feel that came across with my interviewers as well especially my first interview which actually ran over time (and I almost teared up when asked about why I transferred schools because I had to go into detail on my families bankruptcy)

If anybody has a chance to go and interview there...do it, you will fall in love with the school/facilities...plus the faculty is top notch (the prof's write most of the dental books used throughout the country)
