The NFL season started this week. I love this time of year. Who is your pick to win it all?

even though i am a giants fan and obviously want big blue to go all the way. i think because so many people hate michael vick and now the eagles for picking him up i'd say the eagles have a great chance of going all the way.

Eagles-what a great place for a convict to play...

These guys run free, but Michael Vick goes to jail...

Right, because there's no difference between making dogs fight each other to the death for entertainment and betting purposes, then abusing or killing the survivors ... and regulated hunting in which the animal is eaten and the proceeds from hunting licenses pay for habitat conservation.

:wtf:

What is this forum supposed to be about again? Maybe I'm confused, but I thought it was about Anesthesia and not the NFL, rednecks, and booty calls.

Just keepin it real, yo.

Anesthesia is merely the common thread that keeps this dysfunctional family together. Kind of like Thanksgiving, but less American-centric.

Dream, don't apologize. I've done outpatient anesthesia with team doctors and players of 2 different NFL teams, so this is actually one of the more relevant threads I've read on here.

I'm jumping on the Viking bandwagon. I have to pull for any team with a quarterback almost as old as I am.

Long shot, but they've been getting some love from the football pundits lately (and Regis Philbin, apparently 😕):

Awesome. Eagles signed Garcia. He'll do if McNabb is out next week.

or Vick for that matter, what do you think he did in jail all this time? lift weights and run drills i bet.

He won't see the field until Kolb throws his 3rd INT. None of the three options in Philly can keep up with Brees. You should pray for an early snowstorm in Philly, 'cause that's the only way I see N.O.'s offense slowing down.

Maybe you didn't catch much Vick in the preseason, but neither did the Philly receivers.

Unfortunately, there are no benches or freeweights on an NFL field. That Vick is ripped AND a QB is incidental. It takes mechanics, not strength.

Vick is suspended next week, RussianJoo.

Bertleman, luckily, the NO defense sucks. What I'm really praying for is that McNabb will be able to play. But Garcia is much better than Kolb, who was terrible against the Panthers. I'm not expecting a win next game, but I am expecting McNabb to return in week 3 and hopefully stay healthy from there. We'll see.

Who is your pick, Bertleman?

I won't have a pick for at least 5 more weeks. I'll need more divisional action to see who's on the up and up. Thus far, it's neither the Giants nor the Pats. AFC, probably Titans or Pitt. NFC, I see the Vikes maybe making it to the conference, but not the big one. As for the Eagles, every year they start the season as a strong pick "as long as McNabb and Westbrook stay healthy". If that's their biggest concern at the beginning OF EVERY SEASON, that's a poor indicator of their likelihood of staying healthy. Plus, like the Cowboys have shown a dogged determination this decade to fade into December, the Eagles have shown the same determination to fade into January. I'm not certain they'll make it into January this year. They shouldn't have made it into January last year, either. 😡

My team? They'll be struggling against Umenyiora Sunday night.

yeah i didn't. nor do i really care about him, i was just saying the eagles can stand to lose a QB or two.

Best teams in the AFC: Pats, Colts, Pitt, Ravens, Chargers
NFC: Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, Saints...

Forgot about the Ravens. They've been on the cusp the last few years. Should have defeated the Pats the year they went 17-1. I'd put them in the top three now that Flacco is producing.

Why no love for my Broncos? Have you guys not seen Orton play before? He's a beast. I heard he threw an 87 yd TD pass the other day....he must have a cannon for an arm.

how bout dem STILLERS!

my same pick every year since i was lucky enough to be born in Steeler country and swaddled in the Black and Gold...

Damn, Farve looks old in the face, but his arm, or shall I say cannon, is just flat out sick. The game winning throw a week ago was clutch, but what stood out to me was it was a 50 yard rope; a frigging line drive carrying 50 yards. I didn't think he could top that, but he did Monday night. Back peddling throwing across his body to the opposite sideline on a rope, and a dozen other passes like it. That arm is sick.

If I was the Vikes staff I'd implement the Shaq/Clemens rule. You know, Houston gave Roger Clemens extra excused sick days just like he was a hot chick in a residency program, and Clemens fired an insane season* (* meaning with a little special juice treatment on the side). Shaq didn't play back to backs in Phoenix and turned in one of his best season in a few years. Farve started off great as a Jet and then the wing burned out in flames down the stretch. Game 4 against Green Bay was beautiful, but means nothing if January looks like a bunch of quacking ducks in the air.

The S. A. Spurs have long employed a rest now strategy with a very deep rotation, even lose a few extra games they would probably win, to stay rested for the playoffs. It worked great with 3 championships and other strong seasons deep into the playoffs (until last year when even their extended rest strategy couldn't fight off the injury bug). I suggest the Vikes do the same; pull Farve early with big leads and flat out sit him for 2-3 games against crap teams. They will be sorry if Farve plays every game and has a limp wing come January. Or you could do like Florida did leaving Tebow in late in a blowout. That didn't seem to work out so hot.

Difference this time is Minnesota has a running attack, and a rather potent one at that. Resting Favre means handing off to Peterson in the fourth Q when they're up by 10. This December, he'll be playing in a dome, not the Meadowlands.
