Hey y'all, does anybody know when the NHSC scholarship application opens and when the deadline is? I scoured the interwebs and couldn't find any information. Any help is very much appreciated!

Usually opens late March/early April and the deadline is about a month later or so.
The application doesn’t change year after year so you can probably start asking for letters and writing your essay responses now.

It looks like you are preparing to apply to dental school next cycle, right? In that case, you wouldn't be applying for NHSC until next year, after you've already been accepted to dental school.

No, it is not rolling. I would be willing to bet they don’t even start reviewing applications until well after the application closes. That is one reason why they are so clueless when you try and ask a specific question about your own application. They haven’t looked at it and the person you are talking to probably never will.

They upload them directly to the application. You have to wait until the application opens.

Neither. I read it as during your commitment. As in, if we choose you, how will you contribute to our mission while you are with us?

Sure. Think of it as a job interview question. “If we hire you, how will you contribute to our mission?” And interpret the rest as you will.

The word count is 500 or less. Is it recommended to write close to 500 words or is it okay to write around 300? Does it make a difference? Are you at an advantage if you write more?
