NHSC Application Timeline
Started by Saskatche-1
Usually opens late March/early April and the deadline is about a month later or so.
The application doesn’t change year after year so you can probably start asking for letters and writing your essay responses now.

Thank you so much!
It looks like you are preparing to apply to dental school next cycle, right? In that case, you wouldn't be applying for NHSC until next year, after you've already been accepted to dental school.Thank you so much!
What are the qualifications for applying to that scholarship?

it is rolling acceptances? from the other thread, it seems like they don't review applications until the due date has passed.
No, it is not rolling. I would be willing to bet they don’t even start reviewing applications until well after the application closes. That is one reason why they are so clueless when you try and ask a specific question about your own application. They haven’t looked at it and the person you are talking to probably never will.it is rolling acceptances? from the other thread, it seems like they don't review applications until the due date has passed.
They upload them directly to the application. You have to wait until the application opens.Does anyone know where LOR writers send their letters?

- How will you contribute to the mission of the National Health Service Corps in providing care to underserved communities?

Neither. I read it as during your commitment. As in, if we choose you, how will you contribute to our mission while you are with us?For the first essay question, is it referring to my plans after my commitment with them or like during dental school?

oh, hmm. I guess your attitude and extra actions throughout the commitment along with actions outside of your mandatory commitment?
Sure. Think of it as a job interview question. “If we hire you, how will you contribute to our mission?” And interpret the rest as you will.oh, hmm. I guess your attitude and extra actions throughout the commitment along with actions outside of your mandatory commitment?

The word count is 500 or less. Is it recommended to write close to 500 words or is it okay to write around 300? Does it make a difference? Are you at an advantage if you write more?
