I am so super excited!! i just found out that i have been selected to interview for the scholarship. What can i expect??? What are common questions?? what can i go over to better prepare myself for the interview? I really want this scholarship so i want to be extra prepared. Does anyone know how many they interview vs accept? Thank you, thank you for the help!! Good luck to all those still waiting to hear!

Sorry I can't answer any of your questions. But, I would like to add one more. Can you apply for the scholarship after you've started med school, or is it only before starting MS1?

Thanks

Yes, you can apply after MS1 or MS2. I've heard that the odds of getting the scholarship are actually slightly better for MS1 or MS2's. There is also the loan repayment program that you can enter after residency. The financial benefits of loan repayment aren't quite as good but there are a lot more options for sites to serve at and it gives you more leeway to decide whether you're certain about primary care. If you are granted an NHSC scholarship and then change your mind about primary care or working at an NHSC site, you owe triple whatever tuition and stipend you've received.

About the interview process, I think that there is a thread about this in the financial aid forum. No doubt others remember far more than I do. It was a somewhat odd interview- lots of questions with, "give me an example of experience x." The only specific one I remember was about interpersonal conflict. Some said that their interviews were very relaxed- I didn't feel that way about mine, which may have something to do with the rejection. I believe that the interviews are all scripted, so it mostly depends on how well you and your interviewers connect. Acceptances are sent out earlier than the rejections- if the news is good, you'll probably get the letter in August.
