As if he didn't suck enough alive here you go. A little off topic but I thought some here would enjoy this. We argue about politics, CRNAs, etc. - but give me break we can all agree this is BS (hopefully).

RIP Three's Company

Don't blame Ritter, he didn't suck that bad - good performances in Sling Blade and Bad Santa (maybe Billy Bob brought out the talent).

Blame the wife.

(always blame the wife)

He was great in "Skin Deep" too. I highly recommend checking this movie out, if nothing else than to laugh at what was considered "high fashion" in the '80s.

this is the problem with economic damages - one person's life is worth more than another.

i believe there should be a cap on economic damages - we should all agree that based on age/marital status/number of kids etc that economic damages cannot go beyond $5million...

and on top of that for the Ritter family - what would have happened if Ritter had died of an aortic dissection despite being diagnosed and treated right away? they still can collect his life insurance --- they can also collect -believe it or not - social security benefits - in some circumstances - and hopefully he has been investing instead of spending - and therefore has a little pot of money somewhere...

by the way what the article fails to mention is that his wife (Yasbeck) has already received $14.7 million in a settlement with the hospital !!!!

full body scan???

I scanned his body in that youtube video, and I didn't see any bulging aorta there...

correct me if I'm wrong (and I may well be, I'm still a lowly med student for a few more months, and then I'm (hopefully) gonna be just a lowly intern), but "bulging" doesn't necessarily preceed an aortic dissection, and there's no reason to think they'd see evidence of an impending dissection 2 years before the fact (some atherosclerotic disease, maybe, but probably not a little intimal flap just waiting to wreak havoc).

full body scan???

This is a new-fangled "preventative medicine" strategy being sold by some radiology hucksters. The "patient" pays out-of-pocket for the test. People get a full-body CT scan before they are sick to look for problems. It was popular a few years ago until these same radiologists started to uncover probably benign things, such as small hepatic hemangiomas, that would require major invasive procedures to rule-out the potential for worse things.

Long story short, there's no real proven medical benefit to doing these scans if you're not sick. Here's the FDA's take on it...

http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/ct/

Worse, there is evidence that they increase cancer risk...

I know, that's why I was so exasperated

On top of those references, there's also an excellent Scrubs episode on the subject...
