Guys, Plz help with these problems,

1) Julie has $5.50 nickels and dimes. She has five more nickels than dimes. How many dimes dows she have? answer is 35

this is how i did it by algebra but I keep getting 34.9

d=dimes=1/10th of a dollar n=nickels=1/20th of a dollar

d=n+5(1/20)
d=n+1/4
n=d-1/4 then I used this one to substitute for n in the following equation

5(1/20) + (1/20)n + (1/10)d = $5.50
1/4 + (1/20)(d-1/4) +d/10 =5.50
1/4 + d/20 - 1/80 + d/10 = 5.50
3d/20= 419/80
d=34.9
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??🙁

How complicated are the calculations on the QR section? Like the problem above? 5.25/.15 in your head and stuff like that or what? Just wondering from anyone who might know. Thanks!

the prometric center i went to gave me three, two-sided dry erase sheets with two markers and an eraser. i tried to break things down into fractions when i could for multiplication. there might be some calculations a little more difficult that this and there will be plenty of multiplying large numbers but nothing extreme.

A father and son are driving in the country. They get in an accident. When they get to the hospital, the son is wheeled into surgery. The surgeon looks down at him and says: "I can't operate on him, he's my son."

How is this possible?

one thing i noticed you did wrong (i didn't think through the whole problem) is that the problem says there are more nickels than dimes and your equation d=n+5(1/20) implies there are more dimes than nickels

ROFLMFAO :laugh: I prefer the term uptake impaired to slow. I can relate, trust me!
