So, an organization that I frequently volunteer with recently nominated me to be a part of this NIH Advisory Council (List of Institutes and Centers)
There are 27 institutes and I'll be an advisor in one of the institutes (keeping this broad to remain anonymous) as a "lay-person with a scientific/research" background.
It seems like my role will be to discuss science policy, do second-level peer review of grant applications, and act as a liaison between the research communities I'll be representing and the NIH.
I am very interested in research and do think this will be an interesting opportunity.
Anyone have thoughts on how this will be viewed in residency/fellowship in the long-run? It is a four-year commitment, so I want to make sure I'm not dipping my toes into too many buckets.
