Has anyone seen nitroglycerin patch being prescribed as "apply one-half patch daily"? In that case, do the patient just fold up the other half of the patch? Would they still get an accurate amount of the drug?

No, you probably won't get an accurate amount of drug. If you cut the patch, you ruin the delivery mechanism. It is not recommended to use half a patch. There is a physician in the area who prescribes half a Daytrana patch. We called the manufacturer, and they said cutting it will impact its integrity, etc. We tried to explain this to physician, but he didn't care.

Yes, I have seen this prescribed by an orthopedic surgeon treating tendinitis. The patch was to be cut in half and applied to the elbow.

Seldane, was the patient told to cut the patch before peeling off the liner and keep the other half for use at a later time? Or, was the patient told to throw the other half away? I am getting conflicting information that the other half shouldn't be kept.

The manufacturer is bound to say that if there is no data to support otherwise. If the doctor is familiar with and have prescribed half-patch daytrana in the past...he may be going on his experience and that alone should be enough for you.
