Hello all. I am planning to go to medical school in the Philippines in 2007, hopefully De La Salle, and I am going to be taking the NMAT in October in LA. Had a couple of questions that I hope can be answered:

-Do I send the NMAT registration fee and application directly to CEM in the Philippines or do I send it to the CEM coordinator in the States?

-After reading the practice exam, are we really not allowed to write on the test booklet during the exam? I cant imagine doing some of the math problems in my head.

-Where can I get an NMAT review book? I tried National Bookstore online, but no luck.

Alright, that's all. Hope any of you can help.

- sori, i dont know the policy of CEM regarding NMAT takers abroad. y not go to CEM website and maybe u can get some info there.

- yes, u are NOT allowed to write on the test booklet during the exam. however, they give scratch papers. dont worry. 😎

- the NMAT reviewer i have is by MSA. maybe u can go to their website: www.msatutorial.com. but u know what? the practice exam given by CEM is enough. my NMAT review book has more difficult questions than the NMAT itself.

i guess my best advice is use your time wisely especially on the 1st part. many students are not able to finish the 1st part as i am. but the grade i got is just right. dont worry too much. just study. try to answer the practice exam. god bless! 🙂

I'm also planning to take the NMAT this Oct. but probably in Chicago, I haven't been there so that's my excuse. Anyway, I think if you'll take it here in the US you have to pay that $350 to Mr. Vergara or whoever your contact is with your TOR. If you recieved your application from the person incharge (Mr. Vergara etc.) it includes a special document that will tell you the application process. Kinda expensive but I think its cheaper than going back home in PI, unless you're going for a different reason.

I think Juve is right that you have to give it to your contact in the US.
Most US grads I know did not prepare well for the NMAT but said that the practice exams may be enough.
De La Salle from what I hear does not have a high cutoff in NMAT so just rry your best during the exam and the first part (mostly IQ test) you might have to be faster than usual pace.

Thanks everyone for the response. Lots of good info!

Does anybody have an idea where can I get an NMAT reviewer if I go back home in the PI? Review centers or anything like it. Does the NMAT question kinda like what they have in the practice?

Hi, in my opinion the practice questionaire was actually harder than the actual exam, so its good for practice and for identifying areas that you need to work on... I wouldn't bother with the other NMAT reviewers. Good luck to everyone taking the next NMAT! 🙂
