So being all neurotic and stuff, I decided to take all the NBME exams and spent the 200 dollars. I was hoping to be able to find out my weak points and work on improving. I got consistency of the final score, but my individual little lines (scores) were different from one test to another. That can mean that either I'm stupid, or the tests are not truly as standardized as they say they are and that one of the sections on the exam is invariably easier and there are others that are harder. Did anyone else have this happening to them?

Yes, this is entirely normal. Each "bar" is made up of between 5-40 questions approximately. So I wouldn't put too much weight into what they say your weaknesses or strengths are. What might be more useful is to add up the bars for each section of each exam.
