NMDA and Cell Death?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If your talking like ischemia induced neuronal injury nmda it is caused by upregulation of NMDA receptors on ischemically injured cells which allow Ca flow through and too mcuh Calcium due to upregulating too many receptor floods the cytoplasm with calcium which activiates all sorts of endnucleases, proteases, and free radicals which damage the membrane and causes cell death as well as increasing membrane permeabliity of the mitochondria which releases caspases, which activates apotosis.

Thanks for the help guys. Ramoray, you are right I meant NMDA receptors. :luck:
