1) 1720 cm^-1 is evidence of a C=O. I believe the structure is this:

CH3-C=O and attached to the carbonyl carbon is a CH with 2 benzyl rings attached to it. Does that kind of make sense? I can't draw it on SDN :) . The two aromatic rings show the peaks at 7.25 ppm. The CH is the peak at 5.08 and the CH3 is the peak at 2.20

2) the 9.80 ppm shows an aldehyde.

Good luck ! :)

i don't know if this makes sense....but i think one is a ketone and one is aldehyde.......

1) CH(Two Benzene Rings)-COCH3 (KETONE)?

2) CH3-C(Two Benzene Rings)-COCH3 (ALDEHYDES)?

is that right imper and pokey?

I believe number 1 is right. But the structure you have for number 2 is not an aldehyde. With the structure you have for number 2, a singlet will not be seen at 9... ppm.

opps, sorry the second one should be :

CH3-C(TWO RINGS)-COH

Looks good. Good job :)

Memoriesss! Lol, I loved NMR...actually I think I just liked it because I understood it. I miss Orgo :(

I am in the same boat.....NMR just came so easy to me. I loved taking tests on them.....i miss that
I loved COSY.....does anyone remember that.....HNMR and CNMR together....i used to spend hours just solving structures....man i am such a nerd...all my friends were right!!!!
I guess i should just accept that i am nerd!!!!!
