Anybody use it for surgery? I am looking for a solid resource, not a qbook because I have UWorld.

I second Case Book. It has all you need (along with Pestana notes) to do well on the shelf.

My classmate and I both tried to read it but fell asleep in the first 30 pages. I would recommend a question bank or Step up to Medicine if you haven't taken medicine yet.

The washington manual of surgery - there was a copy of it our call room and it was really helpful

I read it. It has a somewhat marginal return for the length....

If you want to read a ton and kill the exam, it will be good for you. If you don't care about breaking 90th %, you can easily do extremely well without it.

I think NMS Casebook, Pestana, UWorld and another set of questions (Pretest, A&L, whatever), would help you do well.

I used NMS (the big book) for surgery. I scored 92nd percentile on the shelf. But, I also had 12 weeks of surgery so there was plenty of time to read it. I used it because 99% of the authors in that book are from my school, and I was working with many of them. Needless to say, it worked like a charm to prepare for pimping too.

It's a bit more than you need, stick with the casebook.
