No acceptance with several interviews.

I met someone who had 3 interviews last cycle and received no acceptances. But has anybody heard of extreme cases??? I'm talking 6+ interviews and no luck. I understand that "in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes", but man that is terrible. Your heart has to go out to them. I was just bored and curious. We could also talk about Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, or Dr. Who. Haha...maybe Scandal.

Oh god, you're talking about my worst fear right there. I've gone on four interviews Pre-December and am absolutely scared ****lesss that I'll I won't get accepted anywhere. Perhaps worse, I'm so impatient. If I don't get a phone call on December 2nd (but end up, let's say, getting in around January or February) I'll probably become so sullen and depressed, lol. I know it doesn't matter when you get in, as long as you get in...but we just put so much emphasis on December 2nd.

I feel your pain! I have 4 pre-dec interviews as well and the thought of this happening is always in the back of my mind. I'm sure its happened to others with a lot more interviews, which breaks my heart. When Dec. 2nd rolls around I'm picking up an extra shift and checking my phone for messages when I get home that night. No way can I just sit and wait.

Search for a thread titled "chances after 6 waitlists" by aznboi99x

He got waitlisted by 6 schools on December 3rd but eventually got off the waitlists for some schools after.

So it is possible for you to get waitlisted by all schools. However, getting rejected by all on December 3rd?, very unlikely in my opinion
 
Arr, the legendary aznboi99x-it has appear and reappear on our cycle and will still be legend in future dental application cycles of our children.

At this point, I am leaving up to the higher up. Best of luck to you all who are waiting for the first invite and others who are in the two digit invites.

Wow. Great thread, thanks! He applied to 51 schools, I couldn't imagine. I started rooting for him as I went down the thread, haha.
 
It's a concern for everybody. Statistically, 3-4 interviews makes it highly unlikely for you to not get accepted, but one never can truly say. I've had interviews where I've felt confident I'd made a good case, but sheesh. My wife and I are hoping we'll have some tough choices to make, but the reality is we'd be happy anywhere I interviewed.

Damn! 6 wait lists? I wonder if this guy was just a very awkward interviewer? And wtf does anyone afford that many applications?

Ditto. I plan to just stow my phone away during the entire workday, and cutting myself off from sdn on Dec 2 and 3. Otherwise I'll be a panicky, nonproductive wreck, incessantly checking messages.

Count me in on that club. I'm avoiding SDN starting Dec. 1 until I get news back from all the schools I interviewed at (or hopefully, with good news from one). Unfortunately, I'm unemployed and living at home so I will have to try my best not revert to my pre-interview-invitation self.

As for the original topic, I made a risky move and postponed a late pre-Dec interview in order to save money. Hoping to get accepted into at least one of the 3 schools I have interviewed at so far. Hoping I don't regret my decision...

I also pushed back an interview; we just have to hope for the best I suppose. Haha I think we're all talking a big game, but when the day comes our phones are going to be duct tape to our hands.
 
The very title of this thread depresses me! I'm not even going to think about this until post Dec 2nd. Now lets talk about game of throne or something. LOL =D
 
Yeah seriously, the thought of waiting for Dec 2 (and MAYBE not even hearing then) is agonizing. 🙁 I had 3 pre-December interviews and I'm still scared silly of hearing bad news on December 2. Good luck to everybody else.
 
Yea..I've thought about the possibility of that happening. It's a scary thought
 
I know we are all scared, but remember, even if we get waitlisted by 4-5 schools on dec 3rd, it's very likely we will get off one of those waitlists because they're all pre-December interviews!!

I only have 1 pre Dec interview 🙁( I have been sitting on fire the whole time. Now I read this, I am completely burned.....I think u guys have better chances with 3 or 4 interviews. I am just gonna go cry now, and wait till Dec 2

You may get lecom!! Or post December interviews!
 
A crappy personality is a crappy personality no matter how many interviews you get. You can get +20 interviews with a crappy personality and still get rejected at all schools.

You can't control anything anymore and it's all up to them. Choose not to worry right now.

Haha No one will shell out $500+ to get rejected!!! It just tell you something about the interviewers.

i was the person who applied to 53 schools last cycle and was waitlisted at 6 schools with 1 rejection. I eventually got into 3 schools.

Just reading your old thread stressed me, so I couldn't imagine what you were going through. Looking for stories like yours is why I started this thread. Truly happy that things worked out for you.
 
lol.. i think its more likely that only having 1 interview will grant you an acceptance. if you are personable and true to your words, 1 is all you need

It must've been super annoying to answer, "Where else did you apply?", on supplemental apps. I can't imagine doing what you did...5 essays was already killer for me.
