I guess I should open up and explain my situation.
Last year, I got waitlisted at NYUCD in February. A week before school started, I was actually notified about an available seat, but I was on vacation! I didn't had access to the internet at the time. I didnt check my email until 3 days before school started, and by then, it was already too late! 🙁
For this application cycle, I reapplied in mid-June (before I was even notified about an available seat at NYUCD), in case I don't get accepted off the waitlist. Thinking I might have a chance for this cycle, I reapplied with pretty much the same credentials. I chose to work full-time to save some money for dental school, and as some of you mentioned, I think my stats are decent so I never went back to school. HOWEVER, I didn't even get an interview invitation from NYUCD. In fact, I got my rejection letter in the mail in February 🙁 They said I was competing with a different cohort of applicants. I do plan to reapply to NYUCD next cycle (if I do not get accepted off the waitlist elsewhere), so I asked what I can do to improve my application. I was told that they do not provide suggestions for those who they didn't interview.....
It was quite an unfortunate event. I saw someone on here who got interviewed last cycle at another dental school, didn't get accepted, reapplied, and got accepted this cycle even WITHOUT an interview! I also know someone who got accepted last application cycle but was able to defer their acceptance. Why can't this happen to me?
