hey guys... i am applying for u of md, shhenandoah, howard, and uacp for fall 2009. i have 1 lor from my bio teacher, and the remaining three from pharmacists in retail setting. will this affect my cahnces of getting in? is is required to have a chemistry lor in order to get in? please help me guys...

Better to have a letter from someone who will write you a STRONG positive one. Pharmacist is good. Does not have to be chemistry teacher.

I applied to Maryland, did not have a chemistry prof LOR. Had 2 pharmacists, one prof (cancer prevention), and director of lab I work in.

You don't need to have a chemistry professor for a LOR; it would have just looked nice. The most important thing about LORs is how well that person knows you and how well can they write about you.

i thought LOR were good as long as it's a science teacher, not particularly a chem teacher. And you can never go wrong with 2 pharmacist recommendations, unless they require different kinds of LOR for different schools.

I'm applying to UMB and I had one letter from my physics teacher and two from pharmacists I work with. I chose my physics prof over my chem prof because I had to work HARD in that class (probably put in about 15-20 hours a week just for that class) and still earned the A. I think as long as they know you well and can write a strong recc. it doesn't matter.
