Hey guys! I'm from Canada so I'll be out of state everywhere.

GPA: overall ~3.3 with 1 year to go before I apply. Horrible first year then 4.0 since then

MCAT: 35R

Extracurric: Lots of work w/ homeless, volunteering with clinics lots of direct contact with patients, and other similar activities with about 2 years of each. Recreational rock climbing.

Thanks so much!

Your application, overall, looks good. Your GPA is a little below average, but for most schools your MCAT is above. Hopefully schools will also recognize those great semesters of 4.0s you've been putting in to boost your GPA. Apply to schools known to be oos-friendly and apply EARLY. Try to stay away from uber-competitive, high-tier schools.

G'Luck! :luck:

With another year of 4.0, I estimate you'll apply with a 3.47 cGPA. With your excellent MCAT score, someone whould take a further look at your application. You have lots of active clinical experience, but keep in mind that in the states most schools expect to see physician shadowing as well. Leadership, research, and teaching are other desirable elements to consider acquiring over the next nine months before you apply. I'd agree that you won't have much luck with the highly-selective, research-giant sort of schools.
