I am a junior biology major planning on applying to dental school this cycle. My pre-health advising committee here claims that "if you do not have a dentist that can write you a recommendation, you might as well not apply". Is there any truth to this statement?
Here is my specific scenario:
My father is a dentist and I have worked with him for a few years now. I assist him chairside, I am x-ray certified, My father however can not write my recommendation. My grades and the rest of my file are very solid. Can not having a dentist that is not my father to write me a recommendation still significantly hurt my opportunity to get into dental school?
i think the issue is that they want you to have experience in the field (i have) and make sure parents are not pressuring (theyre not)
