Hi,

So there are three schools I have yet to hear back from regarding interviews. I was wondering why they wouldn't have rejected me already if they weren't giving me a pre-dec interview? Is it because they want to have options for after people reject admissions decisions on dec 3rd? Or is it all for waitlist now?

Thanks!

Either they want to keep you in the applicant pool for post-Dec interviews, or they're being polite.

Schools are looking for students that best fit with their school. If you don't have an earlier interview, you're not a better fit; this could mean you're too good/poor a student for them or your profile doesn't align with the school philosophy (i.e. future clinician for Temple/Tufts). If you're still a good pick, they might send a post-Dec interview your way after most students have received acceptances and admissions becomes a big game of musical chairs.

On the other hand, schools might be waiting to reject you at the end of the cycle as a professional courtesy. This makes sense: think of how Penn is upsetting people with pre-Dec rejections. Prior to Dec 3rd, a rejection hits you like a brick. At the end of the cycle, you're probably holding onto at least one acceptance and it hardly phases you.

13 out of the 17 schools I applied to still haven't invited me for an interview or rejected me either -___- Hopefully we get some post-december interviews!

I am in the same situation. I only received one response ( rejection from Missouri) out of the 10 schools I applied to.

Applied to 13 and got an interview from NYU and a "continuing review/we're really just going to reject you" from SUNY buffalo.
