No Interview Nor Rejection Thread!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
as I posted on another thread: U. Washinton, Penn, BID

I was wondering how many of you have received offers from University of Washington? Any rejections? Thanks.

Oh, I am waiting on a bunch, I don't know if that is good or bad. Among them, UVA, UCLA, and Wash U (where I applied for the heck of it, I don't think I have the stat for those places based on what I see on this forum). I am also rapidly loosing interest in UCLA affiliates. I have been invited to good mid-high tier programs so I think I am going to reject interview invites/withdral my application at mid to lower programs after X-mas, staring with no-name community programs who haven't invited me. 😡

list:
u washington
vanderbilt
u of chicago
UVa (categorical)
mt. sinai
cornell
yale

-S.

Columbia,
Cornell,
Mt. Sinai
Yale
Tufts -NEMC
BID
B+W
NYU

On the other hand, got Stanford rejection yesterday and MGH today, so I think a healthy flow is starting

So do you guys think it is the end of the game or you still have hope left?

My name is almost the last letter of the alphabet. Do you guys think they go by alphabet?

I am hopefull for Columbia and Cornell.

Does Columbia send rejections?

still waiting for:
U . Washington, BID, Yale

anybody think there are more interviews coming from these programs?

ej 😕

Waiting on:
UCSD
BID
UChicago
Nortwestern
(I applied to the Chicago programs late)

FYI: I got a UCLA rejection via snail mail today.

Is anyone still waiting to hear from Emory or Vandy?
Have these programs begun sending out rejection letters?
I'm wondering if it's time to expect a thumbs down or if they're just moving along slowly through remaining applications.
I'd appreciate any insights.

Not sure, I would give both of them a call. I already went to my Emory interviews last week, and they said the people who are interviewing with them is set. Of course, people may cancel, and if enough people cancel I am sure they might invite more...

As for my home intitution's program, heard my faculty advisor said last week they are finalizing their last batch of invites for the interview season here starts at the end of thanksgiving. As it stands now there are only few spaces on a few interview days that are open so I can't imagine they inviting many more.

anyone hear from uc irvine?
i haven't heard a peep. i have heard from all the other cali programs.

I am still waiting to hear from
UCSD (applied here a little late)
BID

Crypt

also waiting on BID, Cornell, Columbia. i haven't completely lost hope since i just received an interview offer (~2 days ago) from an equally competitive place.

that being said, i also received a rejection about the same time. let's hope for a happy thanksgiving!

Has anyone been able to reach the office at Columbia? I have tried their number (the one on ERAS) several times and all I get is a busy signal. I have also tried to email but have not received an answer 🙁

Maybe they know it's me 😀

i heard from most of the cali schools (including UCI), except for some of the UCLA affiliates.

Columbia already finished giving interviews. These are first hand information I got today at the CPMC.

Anyone know about Mt. Sinai? Are they done sending out interviews? Anyone rejected? Thanks.

Still waiting on BID and Yale Categorical.

Anybody know if these programs are still sending out invites, or is it finally time for me to stop checking ERAS every 3 hours?

Thanks,
ej

The list o' leftovers:
U of Chicago
Yale
Mt. Sinai
Cornell

C'mon, it's DECEMBER ALREADY!!!!!
-S.

san filippo, maybe its a good thing you haven't back from cornell, as I know from personal experience, they have been giving out rejections...

also, I've heard that UC may not even give out rejections...someone earlier, however, said they'd make final decisions by the 5th.

as for Mt. Sinai, who knows...I'm still holding a shred of hope for them, albeit, probably foolishly...

I am hypothesizing Cornell and possibly Columbia holds a group of applications from which they will invite if people starts cancelling. I heard a few people heard from those 2 programs pretty late in the season, like in late December with like 2 possible dates. It's pretty fuked up.

As for Sinai, who knows... I am still waiting for them myself, and quite honestly, have gotten invites from places that are more competitive. Heard that they are usually SLOOOOOWWW in giving out interviews so I wouldn't be surprised if invites are still slowing trickling out. Not sure if this is a program I will even rank even if I get an interview.

And last but not least, fuking Chicago. I heard nata from them. Nata! I seriously dont know what their problem is....

Led by my Dean's advice, I sent an e-mail and a snail mail to Cornell PD expressing my interest. The next day he sent a rejection. Hahaha...While he was rejecting me he probably thought "here is a rejection for you , you inpatient mother****er".

I do not think that Columbia will send you a rejection. They are quite arrogant.

My problem? Still waiting on UCLA, as well as a bunch of other 1st-2nd tier univeristy programs (make that 10). I am afarid to call them up since what I might get is an automatic rejection. I hope my application is still somewhere in the leftover pile and when other people cancel, they might accidentally pick up mine  .

And its weird, I keep on getting rejections from small, community programs which were back-ups, while I have been invited to other good university programs. Whats the deal.

hehe... ok... then I will hang on to my mail to Col/Cor then, in hope that my file is still in the running. I know Columbia and Cornell are kinda arrogant like that. When I was applying to med schools, I was initially waitlisted by both. Both institutions dumped me off their waitlist like a piece of trash after I write to them saying I am still interested and I have like 2 or 3 other top 25 places that are waiting for my enrollment decision, which is waiting on YOUR slow-ass decision.

I wrote email to Michigan like 2 weeks ago, and they actually told me they gave me an interview LONG TIME ago, but now they can't accomodate any more people. They told me to call them back in a few weeks to check if people cancel so they can fit me in. How suck is that?

Some small programs are actually quite selective, believe it or not. I know there is one local community hospital program here at Nashville that receives 3 or 400 apps for like 5 spots. Known for cushiness and nice call rooms/doctors lounge, etc and good hours, lots of AOA people from my school over the years who is trying for derm, rads, etc are all applying there for their prelim (because of their chillingness compared to Vandy) and some didn't even get an interview and have to end up begrudgingly go to Vandy for some hardcore intern year action.

That is a load of balognie. A school will NOT reject you if you call to ask for the status of your application. If they were to reject you on that basis, I wouldn't want to go there anyways.

i don't think da vinci (and others) is necessarily worried about getting an "automatic" rejection if he/she calls...probably more worried that he/she may unnecessarily force the issue, and therefore force the PD to make a rash decision at this point. why hurry? maybe under different circumstances, and on whatever friggin' slow timetable he's on, the PD will view your application-on-hold differently (and perhaps more favorably). if a PD can reject an application now, he will probably do so.

then again, if you're going to be rejected, might as well get it over with now!

i think we're starting to pull conspiracy theories out of our asses...chances of getting an invite from any of the top-tier places at this point is very small.

😡

Still waiting on

U. of Chicago
UCLA-Harbor
Baylor-Dallas

Man these people take forever!😡

Just got my rejection email from Washington (Seattle) on Tuesday.

All of my other invites have been here for weeks. Does anybody think that my chances would have been better if I had "shown interest" by calling earlier to find out what was taking them (Seattle) so long?

i still haven't heard from cornell, mt. sinai, or yale, and, you know what, i don't plan on hearing from them. i finally did get an offer from u of chicago, but that was after emailing the program director my step 2 scores (>250) and still professing an interest in their program. may be it could ahve worked to your advantage for uwash, but who knows for sure anymore.
