This is a subject I found in the pre-allo forum. Someone said that some osteopathic medical schools dont require interviews for acceptances....Could anyone list 'em down?
that's kind of scary... not that some aren't deserving/would make fab docs, but what if you are a social ****** or something??... that doesn't often make for a very good doctor... at least in my experiences, someone correct me if I'm wrong.... 😳 but in general, interviews can convey how well you relate to others, which is very important to the profession!

It seems that interviews aren't enough sometimes....I have met plenty of docs that were either social ******s or just flat out asses...but I think that can go with about any job you go to.

I know the above user who got into MSU-COM without an interview. I think his acceptance was based on his SPECIFIC situation....I would imagine that very few people get into a program without an interview.

My boss went to med school in the 70s and back then they didn't have interviews (acceptance was just numbers and LORs), so maybe the majority of the socially inept docs came from that generation.
I know Lecom doesn't require interview for a few.
My sister was put on the alternate list a couple of months ago, and received her acceptance letter in early May.

I talked to some admissions reps from MSU-COM and mid-way through last fall it was found out that the adcom was denying a certain group of people and that's why they moved to the no-interview acceptance.
I have no idea why WVSOM was moving to the no-interview approach, however, I found that many students accepted in that way were minority students.
I think interviews are absolutely necessary! Let law schools accept people without interviews, but character and social interaction are NECESSARY parts of medicine.
