I've applied to about 18 universities. Got 6 rejections so far. Should I assume that the rest are also rejections by now? Is it too late in the cycle to get any interview invites or is there still hope? Around when do schools stop sending invites?

I'm on the same boat as you... I've been complete on my secondaries since Sept / early Oct, and haven't heard from a handful of schools. All that you can really do now is keep crossing your fingers and wait. You could also write a letter of update, if you have accomplished something significant ( good semester of grades, publication, etc), which may nudge the committee to review your file.
Hey man, keep up the hope. It ain't too late until around summer time. All you really need is 1 interview and acceptance, to hell with all those other places that rejected you. I interviewed late at 2 places and ended up in both so it's happened before and will continue to happen. But you should start making backup plans just in case everything fell through.
