Anyone else just really depressed about not getting any interviews yet? I mean we put in so much money and it really sucks. I feel like im in a really sad place right now where I just want to give up on my dream of getting into medical school. All my friends around me, with the same grades, are getting into schools and then here I am, a freaking loser. I know it sounds bad but have you guys ever been jealous that your friends, who you know in and out about their scores, grades, whole app are getting acceptances while you with the same app or even more are not getting anywhere. I know we shouldn't compare ourselves to others but this kind of depresses me. Other people start to judge you.

Stats, scores ECs and your app are not a reflection of your character.

Stop wallowing in self pity and work on your re-app. Rewrite all essays and have multiple eyeballs vet them. Consider that you might have a bad LOR. Were you late in being verified? Have too unrealistic a school list? Too few ECs?

Op, I understand your discouragement, but it would be more beneficial for you to post your app info like ECs/Stats/School list, and let the adcoms here help you

look when I got my final R last year I was pretty beat down I had friends who got accepted (whom I thought I had a stronger app than) and it hurt. But it wasn't until I was completely rejected that I realized how much I wanted this, and that final R gave me the drive to do better this cycle. I made sure to get solid feedback from schools that offered it. While I was redoing my app I realized just how much better my new app was better than my first app. I got a full time job and now am able to save up a signifigant amount of money prior to starting in aug, I am going to be able to quit my job and travel for two months and ballout which I wouldn't have been able to do last year. moral to the story, getting rejected by everyone sucks but you can find a way to spin it to your advantage. you might think getting interviews would feel better but not when you wait 6 months post interview to find out you didnt make it. If I were you hold onto hope for this cycle but start prepping Now for next cycle, seek advice from the people on here on where you can improve or what you can do to stand out.

Very inspirational story!! I agree OP.

It's OK to feel bad. But this is not the end. Get up, and continue fighting.

Just an insight to other applicants who may be feeling this way... I know a physician I currently shadow, that got rejected from med school THREE TIMES... yes. Three separate cycles, three separate rejections. He didnt give up, kept going until finally he got in.

That too, he got in MD not just DO...

I can relate OP. I didn’t get accepted my first cycle either. What helped me was focusing on all the things I was able to do by NOT getting into medical school. For me, I ended up meeting one of my very close friends, and starting a new sport that I would never have tried if I was busy in medical school.

Most importantly of all, not getting accepted made me realize how incredibly talented my peers are. I think I would have been a lot more competitive as a medical student had I been accepted first try. I was very humbled as a reapplicant, and realized that there was nothing “wrong” with me, rather there are a lot of people out there who are going to make amazing doctors aside from myself.

Advice going forward: listen to @Goro and also, apply DO if you haven’t already.

Gotta say, not trying to be corny. But the fact that you owned up to it and accepted the idea that people other than you will make amazing doctors is a testament to what WILL eventually make you a great doctor. Not sure if you’ve been accepted but good luck regardless

What GPA/ MCAT and ECs is in your app that has you upset that you don't have any II? Also strange that you aren't upset of the years of high GPA standards and months of MCAT study. You mention how much your apps cost as your disappointment.

Thank you! And yes I was accepted last cycle, I’m an M1 right now 😀
