No interviews

Creighton University is the only one that I can think of that doesn't require interviews... I'm sure there are more though. But nowadays most pharmacy schools require interviews as part of their admission process. I think it's better that way. 🙂
UF was mentioned in earlier threads, but they do occasional interviews.

You will have to get used to talking to people at some point though. I would suggest applying to schools with and without interviews and having people coach you and work with you before the interviews.
Hmm, there are a bunch of schools that don't require interviews. U of Michigan, Long Island U are the ones that I could think of on top of my head.Use the link below to find them.

Interviews are not that bad. I hated them too but they are necessary and should not be avoided. That is not a reason to choose a school just because there is no interview. I interviewed at five schools and every one was not that bad. They know you are going to be nervous. Everyone seemed to want to help me get through the process. It was more like a conversation than anything. It is also your chance to interview them and see if the school meets YOUR qualifications.
Interviews are usually to the well-rounded student's advantage. They can make up for less-than-stellar grades with personality. Everyone is nervous at interviews. There is something wrong with a person who ISN'T nervous in a situation like that. Since you're applying in '09 or '10, I think you might be able to tackle that problem by then. They are usually only 10-20 minutes long. It's not so bad...

its not that i'm afraid to talk to people. its just that in situations where i know messing up could hurt me, i usually mess up really bad. like when an interviewer is talking to me i totally blank out and just stare into space. or when they ask me a question, i usually respond with "ummm, uhhh" like my brain is dead and i cant even get words to come out of my mouth. it makes the interviewer think that i'm too passive.

If you continue to think this way, you'll continue to perform that way. If you practice and prepare and want it bad enough, you should be able to convey your desire in your interviews. Just think...you need practice. What are you going to do when you interview for pharmacy intern jobs? What about your first job as a pharmacist? If you're interested in fellowship or residency, you'll face more interviews. Best to get practice now.
Only a handful of schools do not require interviews. (For good reason). Don't narrow your choice of schools based on such a trivial thing.(The same thing goes for people who apply to only non-PCAT schools because they're afraid to take the test.) If you really are that worried, apply to interview and no-interview schools. At least then you will get some practice, instead of avoiding the situation altogether. Good luck

I don't think U of SC requires interviews, but I set one up anyway. I think it was absolutely essential to my admission since the vast majority of their pharm students come from their pre-pharm program whereas I was coming from out of state. Showing initiative and performing well in an interview are important qualities for some adcoms. Although I had a good GPA and CV, I really think taking the effort to meet the deans and profs is what got me in (I hadn't taken 5 of the pre-reqs when I applied!). I know interviews can be intimidating for some people, but as a pharmacist (and student) you will be put on the spot and should start improving public speaking skills. I know that we have several presentations this year and I'm sure we'll have to do more next year as well.
