I am TERRIBLY worried I have had interview invitations from just one school so far and have not heard from the others as of yet. Is there any hope at all for me? I had applied early in june. my gpa and dat scores are not too bad. I am really worried. Does anyone think I have any hope at all..

I did call all the schools up. Everyone keeps saying that my application is complete and under review...

How many credits did you take a semester? How long have you shadowed? Did you work or part of any clubs? Schools look at more then the numbers, maybe there is another area you can work on then inform the school. One thing that helped me was talking with the schools every other week or so, really helps build a quick foundation. Good luck though.

I've had about a year experience at an orthodontist and 6months volunteering at a dental school and 6mo at a gp. Do u think its not that sufficient?? Also I come from a sort of conservative background (all study and no play) , i did not do my high school here so I was kinda new to the american way of getting involved in a lot of different activities. I did do some stuff in the last year and a half or so (like couple of clubs, working, research some awards) but it wasnt like really great. I explained this situation in my pers. statement but i wonder what the schools thought of that... Can I really inform schools of new stuff I do???? I did not know that..

Apply to NYU as soon as possible, w/ your scores, they'll accept u without an interview! Wish u the best of luck 😎 (unless ur luck and my luck come into conflict at UNLV... lol) 😀

something definitely sounds fishy~ Your stats are great... way above average. Maybe there is a hold on your file for something. Find out if this is the case... if it isn't, it's strange that you only have 1 interview. I would email the schools and tell them when you applied and that you have yet to hear anything from them. I have done this and they have replied with an interview invitation immediately, which makes me think that my file was in the corner of someone's office, forgotten about till I emailed them. When I called they just kept telling me that my file is complete and under review, probably because that is the status in their computer system. You never know, your file could be physically lost and they won't notice being that they have so many applications. I doubt this is the case for you, especially at all the schools you applied to but definitely try to contact them.

Just out of curiosity, will you have your degree by the time you matriculate? I applied this year (east coast schools) with similar stats and have received only 1 interview and no acceptances...probably due to the fact that I won't have my degree at the end of this year. If thats not the problem, then you should definitely call the schools because something must be wrong.

your stats are above average and you applied in june. to only have one interview (for february!!) is definitely cause for alarm. log off SDN and call the schools right now and ask them what the deal is -- don't just ask if your application is complete!

just called usc and loma linda both said its under review. and they dont really want to talk about it any more they just say wait for a while and i might hear from them.. 😕

A long while back someone wrote in a thread about the in-betweens - those with great stats (but not perfect) who are on the higher end of average, but not the top %.
So people with more to offer (beyond gpa and Dat) but lower scores sometimes get a better review, and more offers. Maybe because the schools think that you will be picked up by others schools? who knows?

It is really fustrating, but try to remember it is still early in the game. There were more applicants at the individual schools this year and maybe the schools are still trying to deal with the 100's of applications they have received. You applied to great schools-but very competitive schools-Just try to hang in there.

I am trying not to freak out until the end of march, If march gets here and there is no news then I will stress and create a new plan to apply again.

It's possible. I haven't been interviewed at some schools I thought I would be. It's kind of random. Just have to deal with it.

There really should be no need to worry. I applied to only 3 schools 4 years back, got interviews to 2 right off the bat (my alma mater and my home state) and didn't hear from USCF until late Jan, interviewed in Feb, and found out about acceptance in mid March (too late suckers! MD rocks!). With those scores mentioned, I really wouldn't panic until late Jan. You should definitely be getting some offers for interview. If not, there really must be something amiss, or something there that shouldn't be (like trying to have that football sized goiter looked into). G'luck!

Same boat here. No word from New Jersey or USC but got an interview at UCLA. You never know. The stats may be better then school's average but there is a lot more that goes into play.

Those are some GREAT stats. I really don't know what to say except there must be some kind of mistake. I assume you're residing in CA? If emails & calls don't work, I'd say just to go there in person. Best of luck to you. Try to keep your head up... I'm sure the time will come soon. Hang in there!

You've got great numbers. There's got to be something in your app (or something missing in your background) that is turning off 4 of 5 schools so far. Maybe it will change, but you didn't knock any socks off the first pass.

You need to critically assess what's there to find the problem or problems. Was your pers statement distinctive and carefully written? LORs solid? etc etc.

Who knows, but my bet is there's something cookin here. Good luck,

Let's be honest. You need to be a saint in order to receive an interview invitation from Loma Linda. UCLA is slow on processing applications. I don't think UOP will offer any more interviews, even though those will be for the alternate list. If you don't receive additional invitations by the end of this month, the chance of getting them is not looking good.

I have one question that I am wondering why nobody has asked yet, why do you only have 3 scores listed. The DAT has 4 sections, or at least the one I tood did. For instance, my scores were 19/23/19/26 (Science/PA/Reading/Quant.) 21 overall and a 3.78 GPA. Maybe I am overlooking something, or maybe I am ignorant to a standard of listing scores on this site. Let me know what I don't know please.

Otherwise, the score I do see sound excellent and it does seem fishy because I already signed with UMKC but UMICH and UDM have mailed me numberous times to get me to send in my secondary apps. and your scores sound slightly better than mine overall.

Thanks for clueing my in. I am new. I also, applied to UCLA, I am out of state, but I only recieved a request for a secondary app. I believe, it is hard to remember. Just a point of advice, if you do get your choice leave UCLA for the last, everyone I speak with, including an UCLA alum, says that their clinical is extremely lacking because of the location. The only knowledge I have to share about that area.
