i only have three more secondaries to fill out, but i just don't want to do it anymore. two are in my top five, but they are hard secondaries and schools that won't probably give me an interview anyway, and the other one i don't really care about. do i really have to do the last three?

Give yourself a short break, you'll feel more like doing em in 2 days I bet.

Wow, that is exactly how I feel. Three more to go, and they are all ones I've been putting off because they are so difficult. Plus, they are all dream schools, so I keep thinking that all this work is just going to cumulate with 3 swift rejections. Ugg.

I've already completed 23, so I guess one or two more won't kill me. But yeah, I feel your pain.

So this no motivation period for me lasted about 3 weeks and I feel it has put me behind. I suggest not doing what I did, suck it up and do the secondaries. You'll feel better once they are done.

I've been sitting on some secondaries for 2 months now.
I wonder what the med schools are going to think.

Me too to all of the above. I have 5 left and then need to start some applications for here in Canada. I just want to make it out of this stage alive. We are all so close and then we can sit back a little but getting over this hump is so difficult. I am glad I am not the only one.

I'm lacking motivation, and I don't start applying until next June! Hopefully I won't have to retake the MCAT.

I felt the same way until I got my first rejection. Then I felt quite motivated to finish them. Plus, if they are your last ones, they should be relatively easy cut and paste jobs.

I'm all done, thank the stars! But the last two or three were a real struggle. 👎

It's a long story. Yeah, guaranteed a spot somewhere, but still trying my luck. We'll see what shakes out.

Hey, how do I get guaranteed a spot??

You know LauraMac, I'm in the same boat. I have a few more secondaries to do and I'm just feeling pretty damn lazy. You know it's senior year, and I really can't stand applications anymore. But too freakin' bad. You know how hard we worked to get here? After 3 years of slaving away, we're finally here... you need to take a step back and give yourself more credit. Respect yourself and finish those freakin' secondaries. They say this whole process is a game... just play along. You're almost there!!!!!!!!! Good luck.

:luck:

21? i've only done 15 and i need a break! one of the ones i have left is UChicago. i just can't seem to motivate for that one. the other one is Vanderbilt which i have to get done because i have an interview there in 2 weeks. 2000 word autobiography though...

just UChicago and Harvard. ive plodded through two of the chicago essays to some degree, have some recycled crap for the third one, and havent started the last one.

id like to finish it by the end of the week, esp since i dont have any interviews to worry about.

glad to see so many are in the same boat. to those of you who have done over 20, congrats! i would never have the patience to do that.

and yeah, i wish i could just cut and paste, but these last few are hard, and i don't really have the right stuff to cut and paste. i think i was expecting to be able to, and that is what makes them so much harder. plus, i just got my first interview invite, so my dumba$$ is assuming i will get an acceptance already, and i just don't need to worry about it. obviously, this is not true, but apparently i'll take any excuse to be a slacker.

my absolute goal is to be done by the end of september, so i know i'll reach the goal. it's just that i would just rather get it over with now, so i can come home and think, "hmmm, what do i want to do for fun tonight?," rather than come home and think, "hmmm, which secondary do i want to work on tonight?"

oh well, we're almost done guys!

After four years of undergrad, up to and including biochem, research, volunteering, and the MCAT, I can now say that the most gruelling and cruel part of getting into medical school is, without a doubt....

the last 3 secondaries :meanie:

Damn them!!!!

hahaha!! now that you put it that way...

i agree with everyone on this. my ass kind of hurts from sitting, and i don't feel like being PC on the duke application...if i decide on doing that awful application =P

i applied to a total of 39 schools. finished with 34 of them. waiting for 2 more! on the other hand...i cant wait to get them so i can really finish them all off for good.

now think if someone had to do 30+ secondaries for the second time around...yes the motivation is hard to find. haha. my main driving force right now is the fear of falling behind too far from the rest of you guys.

*cracks whip*

Don't worry. If you fall too far behind then you get eaten by the wolves. :meanie:

Glad to know I'm not the only one still sitting on that darn Pritzker secondary. It's my last one (unless I pass the Vanderbilt and Wake screens, at least). But then, I only applied to nine schools.

the three i have left are ucla, stanford, and uva. my plan is to take the next couple days off, then do all three next week. yeah, pritzker was a bit*h, but somehow i got that one done.

Yeah the last few were really hard to finish. I had to take like a 2 week break after my 2 week vacation to finish Emory

guys, i ran out of money. after 20, i realized i had -30d in my bank account. now that i have more money, i can't find the motivation to get my last three done...case, pritzker, and tulane...

at what point do you think i can say no more. i have a number of interviews, but that doesn't equal acceptance. each day goes by and i feel guilt for not getting them done.

HAHA, I'm staring at case and pritzker as well. Just been putting 'em off, partly because they scare me and partly because I really don't think my app will get too far with them. Tulane's isn't too bad, though. It was one of my first completed, and I now have an interview scheduled with them 🙂

I say, if you think you can do a good job on those essays and you have a reasonable chance of getting in these schools and you want to go there, then do them. But if you are frustrated, you are gonna put in less than 100% for the effort, on top of that u are doubtful the school will even take you, just don't do the secondaries. Forget about it. You are just wasting your time then. If it is a secondary for a safety school, if your others don't pan out, it might be a good idea to fill it out. However, if it is for Harvard or Stanford or something, and you have good but not stellar stats, forget about it. Best of luck.

I would do the two in your top five and bag the others. Just get them done this weekend and wipe your hands of this process.
