Hi all!

I'll be applying for post-docs this cycle and I've started perusing (nothing too serious) and some sites have stood out. I e-mailed one that just had a single web page of information in a couple of paragraphs, and I asked for more information.

They responded saying they'd be willing to talk on the phone and answer questions! This is so much more...personal than a brochure. It feels like more pressure to ask the "right" questions.

So...any pointers about what kind of questions I should be asking?

Thanks!

I actually think it's a formal post-doc. Maybe it's how they get to know applicants? However, thank you for the suggestions!

also might want to ask about where former post-docs are employed, culture around supporting post-docs through licensure (e.g., do most post-docs study for and pass EPPP during post doc), the kinds of specific experiences you want (e.g, supervising others, research, teaching a class, clinical work w/ a certain population), work-life balance

Most of the formal ones that I applied to also only had like a page of info on their website. It was a much more personal process than internship interviews and I spent a lot of time talking on the phone w different people, which was very helpful.
