Many schools I would love to receive an interview from have just been totally dead on the communication front. Folks with later application dates/lower stats are getting interviews from my top choice school (UPenn), and I would honestly rather they just reject me at this point so I can stop stressing. So far, it has just been a comical continuation of "under review"... it's been nearly 4 months. How long can it honestly take to read my 3-4 page application?

Honestly, the wait is agonizing! Am I even likely to receive post-December interviews at this point, and is it worth worrying over? I'm hoping for interviews from Harvard, UPenn or Columbia, but I suppose if they haven't given me one by now, they won't ever, so why haven't they just rejected me yet? 🙁

Not quite sure about Harvard or Columbia, but I wouldn't be too worried on the UPenn front. Corky made it a point to let us know that they do not get anywhere near filling their class on Dec. 1st and interview well into Jan/Feb. I'd only start getting worried if you don't have one by mid Jan maybe, but as of now you're still in good shape imo. Don't forget that a lot of people turn down Penn just because of the pricetag, so there's plenty of hope!

I think the people who are going to win out in this cycle are going to be the people who are willing to wait it out. I just sent out my application to harvard, columbia, and ucla. I'm planning on this application processes taking well into the spring. I think you'll get into one of your top choices. But there's really nothing more we can do right now except try not to be obsessed with it. Don't worry though, you aren't alone. I'm trying to convince myself of what I just told you. I am completely preoccupied with all of this, I haven't shaved in a week and I've gone through about 3 bags of doritos staring at my computer.

I got a rejection shortly after december 1, so you're probably still in the pool then.

I'm in the exact same situation as you. I definitely think that with Penn there is still some hope.

penn definitely sends out rejections, i got one (did not get an interview). i've been told by a bunch of people penn sits on applications for a long time, so don't worry. harvard at the interview says they hold spots until the very end of the application cycle just in case there are a couple who applied late, so that's at least two very good schools who are waiting for people like you. columbia? don't know.

If you look at predents.com you can see that many people get interviews and get accepted well into february, march and april for all of those schools. Just hang in there and don't withdraw any applications. The competition for seats is only going to go down the longer we wait because people will be withdrawing their applications once they decide on a school.

Thanks for the encouraging words, everyone. It's just kind of confusing as to why 9 out of the 13 schools I applied to have simply decided to ignore me for now. They say no news is good news but no news also makes my mind run circles worrying over what could be happening. :scared:

If I had to guess, it's because you're international. Definitely a shame given how great your stats are. Maybe make a "just checking" call to Penn?

I am in a similar boat. I applied to 18 schools got rejected from 2, 2 interviews, 1 hold, and then I haven't heard anything at all from the other 13 schools. One school even called me personally on the phone asked me to complete a pre-req worksheet and do a bunch of other stuff and I haven't heard back from them in over a month after completing it. It really is a strange cycle.

I, personally, just used all this pressure to motivate myself towards school. I mean the only thing you can do to help the situation is to keep giving school your all. With that mentality I got my highest GPA ever this semester, which I am hoping helps the Dental Schools see what I am made of when I update my grades.

Biggest advice though is just take it day by day. Don't come on SDN too much because this place can really stress you out. Oh and don't forget to :xf:

Good luck to everyone in this situation 👍
